About Us
Mr. Gyros has been a beloved part of our community since 1985, when Christos first opened its doors in the Mark Twain building on Division St. near Clark St. For 33 years, we’ve cherished serving you, but as 2018 ended, so did our lease, leading to the difficult decision to close the beloved Mr. Gyros. At the same time, the Mark Twain building was set to undergo a major renovation.
While We had plans to return to our original location, Christos and his sons saw an opportunity to keep serving the community by opening Taqueria Express just a block away on Lasalle Dr. in early 2020. This new spot filled a gap, as there was no taquerias in the area.
However, our plans for Mr. Gyros were put on hold midway through 2020 due to the pandemic and some challenges with the building. Yet, your desire to see Mr. Gyros return inspired us to think creatively. We’re excited that we’ve combined both concepts into one amazing place: Taqueria Express – Mr. Gyros. Now, you can enjoy the best of both worlds under one roof!
